This year the ecumenical Good Friday procession attracted a faithful crowd of locals and visitors. We started from the church and then walked down to Whitestrands car park with the processional cross.

Of course, doing this gets us funny looks.  But, we try to placate and befriend this by reaching out to passers-by with free hot cross buns. The diocese has a prayer card which goes with the buns and highlights the meaning of the holy day.  Like a shorter version of Stations of the Cross we stop at various points and read parts of the Passion.  It is very moving and well received around the town. The service concluded back at the parish church.  This year children dropped in at 930am, a hour earlier, to make crosses for the procession and to hear the story read out from the children's Bible.

Seeing the wooden cross in town one passer-by said "That looks dangerous vicar!". Father Daniel replied "Yes, it conquered the world."
